California Prop 65 Warning

What is Proposition 65?

Proposition 65 is a California law that applies to companies selling products in California. Proposition 65 requires warnings if a product contains any listed chemical present above very low levels. Proposition 65’s warning standards are among the most stringent in the world. Proposition 65 is not a product safety law, but rather a "right-to-know" law. Businesses are required to provide warnings to comply with Proposition 65.

There are over 800 chemicals on the Proposition 65 list, which is administered by California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), a part of the California Environmental Protection Agency. The list includes naturally occurring and man-made chemicals. Proposition 65 warnings can be seen for a wide variety of everyday consumer products, including electronic equipment, and warnings can be seen posted throughout California in a variety of establishments such as buildings, hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, and stores.

Why do you see the warning on our packaging and website?

The warning is part of our ongoing effort to comply with the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (known as "Proposition 65").

Very nice unit

I was looking to replace the Shaker 500 system in my Mustang and looked at a variety of head units. I chose the Boss as the price was right and I liked the way the unit looked. Installing it was an all day affair as it had been 25 years since I last installed a new head unit. Everything on this unit works very well. I love the GPS, the DVD/CD player is on par with the old Shaker in terms of how it loads, and the hands free phone is quite good. I have yet to use the USB but I'm sure it will be up to par as well. I would recommend this unit to anyone. Outstanding performance at this price point.

Fantastic Radio for the price!

Installed this in my daughter's 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix as an (early) Christmas gift. Didn't want to fight the lines after Christmas, so had it done sooner. We gave it to her the same day and she absolutely LOVES it! The navigation feature is GREAT, sound quality is superb and we even tried playing a video which looks sharp as well. I agree with some other reviewers here that the text that shows the station/song that is playing is too small, that would be the only con I can think of. But, not enough of a reason to take off a star. For the price, it's hard to beat. I saw similar radios being sold at the installation shop for $1200+. They didn't want to install it at first, stating it's a BOSS and they don't like them. I can see why, they would much rather sell me a system for $1k than install one they didn't sell me for ~$120. LOL, I'm cool with that.

Nice Radio

Just installed this unit today and still learning about additional features. So far so good - just wish there was a way to make the tiny letters larger on the FM DJ's Info - its way to small to read.

I Love It!!!

Just installed this unit. Almost perfection: The only real 'complaints' I have with it is the RDS info is too small as to be able to be useful to the driver at a glance. While it does work, and works well (better than the Kenwood DDX372BT this replaced) it is just too small. An annoyance as there is ample screen real estate that is being poorly utilized for things that don't need to be there. One other disappointment, but also not a deal breaker, is that the blue function button light is too bright for the night time and is not adjustable. Also, the screen must be manually dimmed at night. Again, not a deal breaker tho. I also have to manually dim my radar detector. But automatic would have been nice. But at this price point, I'm not complaining. The GPS is SA-WEET!!! It is on par with my laptop GPS program. The maps are Tom-Tom which I really like. The system has limits but also alot of what I consider bonus. Out of all the GPS I have had...
