California Prop 65 Warning

What is Proposition 65?

Proposition 65 is a California law that applies to companies selling products in California. Proposition 65 requires warnings if a product contains any listed chemical present above very low levels. Proposition 65’s warning standards are among the most stringent in the world. Proposition 65 is not a product safety law, but rather a "right-to-know" law. Businesses are required to provide warnings to comply with Proposition 65.

There are over 800 chemicals on the Proposition 65 list, which is administered by California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), a part of the California Environmental Protection Agency. The list includes naturally occurring and man-made chemicals. Proposition 65 warnings can be seen for a wide variety of everyday consumer products, including electronic equipment, and warnings can be seen posted throughout California in a variety of establishments such as buildings, hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, and stores.

Why do you see the warning on our packaging and website?

The warning is part of our ongoing effort to comply with the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (known as "Proposition 65").

Replacing a legendary blown home audio speaker

First off, note that this review section lumps 8 totally different speakers together that are for sale on this page. You need to look carefully at the fine print above each review to know which model is being reviewed because what’s true about one speaker won’t be true about another. To be clear, my review is for the 5.25” model BRS52 round speaker. A large percentage of people looking at these speakers are buying them as car replacement speakers, and all of the models are well-suited for that. Generally this brand is very popular. My situation is a little different; I have a pair of 30 year-old Advent Mini bookshelf speakers in which the rubber that surrounds the cone had literally disintegrated with age. These little speakers are legendary; it seems the now long-gone Advent company hit on some magic formula for making a very compact speaker sound amazingly good. I am using them for the front channel pair for my 7.3 home theater surround sound system because the speakers...

Delivering Powerful and Clean Sound Like a BOSS!

I purchased two BOSS BRS40 4", 4-ohm, 50-watt speakers for a cigar box speaker-amplifier project. I paired these speakers with a class-d amplifier capable of 30-watts peak/15-watts x 2 RMS. To ensure I had some punch in the bass of these full range speakers, I made a small port in my cigar box speaker-amp. I was surprised in the ample bass response coming from these speakers nestled in a 3.75 in. deep cigar box. The speakers arrived on time and in good condition. I would definitely recommend these speakers to family, friends, coworkers, and acquaintances. I think the price was good and the speaker performance is even better. I am going to purchase these again for similar size cigar box projects. Matter of fact I have two very nice Drew Estates Tabak Especial (Coffee Infused) cigar boxes sitting in my office that will be well suited for this speaker. Unfortunately, I have six other cigar box amps in line before them.

I rarely receive so much from such a small investment ...

I recently purchased a 1998 Honda Prelude that was, for the most part, in excellent condition. The exception was the original Honda Acoustic Feedback Sound System. Both front 6.5" OEM speakers were blown and I needed to replace them. The Prelude doors are quite shallow and hardly any speakers actually fit the the space provided.without cutting and drilling. In searching for a speaker that would fit without modification was this speaker, the Boss Audio BSR65. Because of the multiple mounting holes and the low profile design, I was able to just drop them in place of the OEM speakers. The sound of this speaker was better than I expected for a $15 speaker. Base response was acceptable, the mids are actually quite smooth and pleasant to listen to and the highs are clear but can be a little harsh. Fortunately, my receiver has a lot of sound shaping utility and I can deal with the highs just fine. I rarely receive so much from such a small investment ... I do plan on a major...
