California Prop 65 Warning

What is Proposition 65?

Proposition 65 is a California law that applies to companies selling products in California. Proposition 65 requires warnings if a product contains any listed chemical present above very low levels. Proposition 65’s warning standards are among the most stringent in the world. Proposition 65 is not a product safety law, but rather a "right-to-know" law. Businesses are required to provide warnings to comply with Proposition 65.

There are over 800 chemicals on the Proposition 65 list, which is administered by California's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), a part of the California Environmental Protection Agency. The list includes naturally occurring and man-made chemicals. Proposition 65 warnings can be seen for a wide variety of everyday consumer products, including electronic equipment, and warnings can be seen posted throughout California in a variety of establishments such as buildings, hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, and stores.

Why do you see the warning on our packaging and website?

The warning is part of our ongoing effort to comply with the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (known as "Proposition 65").

Value for money...an excellent device.

For the money you pay for this radio you get much more.

Excellent system

I've been buying stuff online for over a decade and have never written a review on a product before. I'll just say this replacement BT stereo (I replaced my boat's old CD stereo with this one) was extremely easy to install and is very user friendly to use. I like the fact that there is no password required for BT connection allowing everyone in the boat to jump on BT and play their favorite song from their iPhone or Android phone. One thing I noted that was not originally clear in the installation guide, is the wire marked 'backup' is a required connection to a power source. This is not an optional wire like the auto antennae wire is. Boss tech support: The yellow wire on one side of the tag it is labeled “Memory, and on the other side of the same tag, it is labeled “Backup”. Together the tag reads “Memory Backup”. This yellow wire need to be connected to constant positive power.

it doesn't get much better than this for under 50 bucks

I'm reviewing this for what it is, a $50 receiver. Simply put, it doesn't get much better than this for under 50 bucks. Installation was easy so anyone comfortable enough with a screwdriver, wire stripper, electrical tape or heat shrink (I like to be neat so I used heat shrink) should be able to install this. The good: For 50 bucks, you get Bluetooth connectivity, SD card, USB, and AUX inputs, decent power output (enough to drive your typical 4 speaker stereo system) and neat looks. Bluetooth pairing was a breeze and I was instantly streaming my music files or streaming services. Loaded up an SD card and I now have music for weeks. The USB port is useful if you have an old iPod full of music, but it doesn't charge your device. Bluetooth streaming is very clear. Hands free talking is not bad. Overall you do get a whole lot for such low price. The bad: SD card file navigation is a pain. Just don't do it while driving, ever. Just set it to random and be...

Basic, but effective.

Installs easily in my '90 Civic and does what it says. This unit lacks more nuanced controls that more expensive ones might have, but if you're looking for a simple receiver and plan to do most of your audio control from another device, this thing is perfect. It's not particularly powerful, so an amp may be in the cards for your system.
